Within Sentyron, a core policy priority is to minimize the risk that our products, software, and services could be misused to infringe upon human rights or fundamental freedoms. Effective protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms requires action that extends beyond addressing abuses directly linked to a company’s products, software or services. Such measures should also take into account potential adverse impacts linked to the company’s business relationships, even when the company is not directly responsible for them.
Under Sentyron’s approach, it is essential to not only assess and address the risks within our own operations, but also the potential ways in which our products, software and services may be used once deployed by customers, such as armed forces or law enforcement. Such risks increase particularly when the supplies are provided to parties involved in armed conflict or to countries experiencing political upheaval. This is why Sentyron has established an Ethics Committee, which plays a key role in this process.
Sentyron’s personnel must seek guidance from the Ethics Committee before accepting orders for the supply of products, software or services to certain clients, sectors or countries, or when there is a reasonable risk that the end customer may use them to violate human rights or fundamental freedoms. The Ethics Committee’s advice is binding upon all of Sentyron’s personnel, unless Sentyron’s board decides, with a clear and reasoned justification, to depart from it. Sentyron’s board of directors retains ultimate responsibility at all times for ensuring that Sentyron’s business and operations are conducted in an ethically sound manner.
